Junction Art Show.

There are a lot of things happening in the alleyways of London. I don’t mean in a muggings and bum-sex kind of way, but rather a … use-any-space-available-to-pour-your-heart-out kind of way. A handsome chap  that we shot recently invited us to an gallery show in Camden, where he is one of the curators. Although the gallery is technically addressed on the high street, it isn’t really, so just look for the charming people in the black alley to point the way.
The show itself is a pretty neat exercise in that it is actually several different shows, revolving over the course of a 10-day period. We were there for the fashion opening, a few days later it was the visual art opening, and so on. What struck us most was that curators and artists were just doing it. Overall, it was impressive that a group of fairly young people could stage an independent show of graduate and emerging artists, and have it look and feel quite slick. The space was nice (but not too nice), and the artists were surprisingly social. Which is good because rents are wickedly high, and talking to people means selling more work. These peeps have figured it out early!
Minus a very awkward choreographed strip tease (don’t ask because I won’t be able to explain), a definite ‘A’ for effort. We’re curious to see what they’ll come up with next!
