Today is the 170th birthday of the Regent’s Canal. Jarvis Cocker said so on his BBC show. We walked along there yesterday on our way to the Broadway Market. This stretch of the canal is my new favourite thing. With the terracotta-potted houses that back onto it, and the runners, cyclists and people on foot with their ‘no you first’ passing etiquette. And, the Vivienne Westwood shopping-bagged Japanese lovers who lounge along it.
